Void Reaver Shutdown

What can be said about Void Reaver? He’s a pretty unique fight, which can mean fun at times, and frustrating at others. This is a fight where you have to trust the people around you to know their surroundings and act accordingly. So in a way, this fight test your ability to function as a raid when every member can blow it. We passed the test today, grats to everyone involved.

Longest Fight EVER

Tidewalker is sort of like that Husky kid you knew back in High School. He’s not to smart, nor is there really anything special about him, but he could get hit by a car and the car would be in worse shape. This is quite possibly the longest fight we’ve encountered thus far in SSC, and a very hard fought victory. Great job to everyone involved, we’re 4/6 in SSC looking to be 5/6 soon enough. Grats to all the loot winners.

Also, here’s EOI’s unique view on hunters.

Bree’s Little Pony

After over a year of running kara, much of that time spent clearing it, we finally had lightining strike. We’ve killed Eredar Princes, Troll Kings, Dragonslaying Gronn, Exploding Pitlords, Unstable Elementals, and Blind Blood Elves, but have never seen the fabled Attumen horse drop, until now. Grats Bree on your new mount.

EOI Salutes and says goodbye to our own

Reposted from May 8th

It’s with a heavy heart that tonight we says goodbye to two of, if not the best members EOI has ever had. We wish you two the best, and hope that you know that no friendship ends at a guild tag. You helped shape this guild, and we thank you for that.

“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude;
be kind, but not weak;
be bold, but not bully;
be thoughtful, but not lazy;
be humble, but not timid;
be proud, but not arrogant;
have humor, but without folly.”
Jim Rohn

You two were as much the heart and soul of this guild as anyone else, we will continue on, but know we will miss you.

EOI kills an Old Blind Guy…

Editorial by Balloran

But he deserved it. Tonight Edge of Insanity killed Leotheras the Blind, after several low percentage wipes, and a heartbreaking 1% try. Congrats goes out to all those now sporting the guilds first tier 5. Thanks to all those of our friends from other guild’s who came out to help us. Good job everyone!

Hydross Drowned

1st attempt… 25 toons… transition stumble…

2nd attempt… 25 toons… Alaeny was heard saying “I intervened the wrong gnome”… Belleow had been slightly out of range but Bree wasn’t so instead of Alaeny’s macro picking up Belleow as the target, it picked up Bree. The importance of a few extra letters was learned, /target and /targetexact .. choose wisely.

3rd attempt… 24 toons… we were seeing druids everywhere! Drawg stepped in to take a tanking role when Karth had to leave before our last attempt… 7 secs to enrage… Hydross dead! and only 1 healer loss/battle rez needed. Fantastic job everyone!

If we keep our wits about us and keep the transitions clean, we can do this. Leotheras the Blind is next so start reading up on those boss strats now.

Commentary by Balloran

I said I’d name it this, aren’t puns awesome? So today we decided to go see what Magtheridon is like post 2.4. Two attempts and a hunter spamming vent later, the big lizard fell to Edge of Insanity. Grats goes to those who won their tier 4 chest pieces and the others who are now sporting new titles. Good job everyone!

Hydra….

That’s as far as we got so far.. we got the Hydra part of Hydraboss… 54%, not too shabby for our first night facing him and learning what he is about. Congrats on taking down Lurker first try tonight. A full raid at raid START time, great job everyone!

Mmmm, fish. Today we killed The Lurker Below, and claimed our first boss of Serpentshrine Caverns. Thanks goes out to all those who stuck it through the times we could only gather 21 or less people, and to the folks who helped us round out the magic 25 today. We’ve gone from 70% yesterday to dead today, amazing what a few extra people can do huh? Grats to all the loot winners, and Hydross, watch your back!

25 man DKP system

EOI will be implementing dkp on all 25man runs. Kara and ZA will remain the /random method. DKP will be split into earning and spending. It will be earned and spent the same for guildies as well as guests.

Earning:

+1 dkp for showing up on time (at the zone in, ready to go at raid start time)
+1 dkp for staying the entire raid
+2 dkp per hour of raiding
+2 dkp per boss kill

DKP will be capped at 60 dkp.

DKP will be a pool collection per player not per toon. All dkp will be shown under the main’s name.

If a raid is full, a waiting list will be initiated. Waiting list people will receive full dkp as long as the following criteria is met:

* signed up on raid sign up (eoiguild.org/phpRaider) at least 1 hour before raid time
* wait list toons are at the zone in and ready to go if needed at raid start time
* remain online in some form or another so that they can be contacted if needed
* must be in vent for the duration in case they are needed

If the above criteria is not met, they will only receive partial dkp credit for the portion of the raid they attend.

Spending:

-60% of your current dkp for Tier armor tokens, quest tokens (Magtheridon’s head), and raid upgrade items in high demand by multiple classes (not class specific trinkets and weapons)

-40% of your current dkp for class specific raid upgrade gear

-20% of your current dkp for off-spec, sidegrade and non-raid gear (pvp style drops)

-1 dkp for a token for faction based flasks based on availability (Mark of the Illdari)

Forfeit of per hour dkp points if you do not utilize consumables (food + 2 elixirs or food + flask). A pot check will be preformed periodically throughout the raid, a whisper will be sent if you are missing the above and you will be given a couple minutes to comply before your dkp for that hour is forfeited.

Highest dkp for raid upgrades gear wins. If nobody calls “raid upgrade”, highest off-spec/sidegrade/non-raid dkp gets it. Ties are broken with a random among the tied players. Dkp is only charged to the winner.

Tracking:

DKP will be tracked using a mod which will display your dkp in your officer note. Also investigating the exporting features to generate a webpage with the details. In game on demand reporting also being figured out.

Notes:

DKP will begin with the Sunday, February 10th Gruul’s Lair raid. Grandfathered dkp will be given to those in attendance at the last 3, 25man raids at a rate of 6 dkp per raid attended. DKP spent will be rounded down to the nearest integer. ie) player has 18 dkp, gets an item for 60% dkp = 10.8 dkp, 10 dkp will be deducted from their total.

As the dkp will be awarded for staying to the end of the raid, please do not leave raid until you have been notified that end of raid dkp has been given otherwise the mod will not credit you with your earned 1 dkp. (It is just the matter of a click of a button but you must be in raid for it to know that you need to get it).

It bring a tear to Vic’s eye to see folks using WWS for raid stats, and the new raid log page is pure awesome. There is now a direct link to the raid logs via the ‘Logs’ tab at the top of the site.
